Residence and work in Norway
The grounds that allow one to apply for a residence or work permit are regulated by the Immigration Act from 1988 and the Immigration Regulations from 1990.
Examples of persons who may work or reside in Norway include:
- Students who have been admitted to an approved educational institution
- Persons who are considered specialists in a particular field
- Au pairs
- Seasonal workers
- Close family members (generally spouses and children)
- Persons who need protection (refugees/asylum seekers)
- Trainees
