Celebrating the Norwegian Constution Day in Malawi

22/03/2010 //

Following the signing of the Norwegian Constitution on May 17th, 1814, Norwegians across the world have celebrated the Norwegian Constitution Day 17th of May. Norwegians currently residing in Malawi are no exception, and the Royal Norwegian Embassy invited Norwegians and dignitaries for a reception on the evening Friday the 15th, and a family day on Sunday the 17th.

While Friday was a day for adults, consisting of canapés and speeches (click here for the Ambassadors speech), Sunday was a day for the children with the traditional foodstuffs – sausages, smoked salmon, and ice cream – and games. The day started with raising of the Norwegian flag at the Norwegian Ambassadors residence, then continued with a small parade to the final destination, a garden where children could play and enjoy.
