Norwegian summer

Last updated: 23.06.2016 // Exploring mountains and the nature is associated with being typical Norwegian. Although hiking is an all-year activity, during summer the hiking season reaches its peak.

Norway is known for its dramatic nature offering beautiful scenery and hiking trails in the mountains, forest and along the fjords. Jotunheimen is one of the national parks in Norway and has several great hiking trails. For instance hiking up Besseggen Ridge is considered to be one of the world’s best hikes, another option is to hike up Norway’s highest mountain, Galdhøpiggen (2469 a.s.l).

Other typical Norwegian activities during the summer is barbecuing, swimming in the ocean and enjoying the sun after a cold winter. On 23 June, Norwegians gather around bonfires to celebrate Midsummer Eve also named “ St.Hansaften”.
