Opening of a Visa Application Centre in Lilongwe

Last updated: 05.04.2016 // From Friday, the 8th of April 2016, applications for Schengen visas and Norwegian residency permits shall no longer be submitted at the Norwegian Embassy, but to the new Visa Application Centre.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Lilongwe is pleased to announce that it has outsourced the receipt of applications for Norwegian residence permits and for Schengen visas. The Norwegian Embassy is currently the only embassy in Lilongwe issuing Schengen visas. Out of the 26 Schengen Member States, the Norwegian Embassy issues Schengen visas on behalf of 16 countries. This has resulted in a considerable number of applicants, and a need to find new solutions in order to facilitate the handling of applications. Outsourcing the receipt of visa and residency applications is part of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strategy to offer better services for applicants.

Furthermore, the applicants will no longer have to book an appointment prior to submitting their applications at the Centre.
