Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg gave Norway’s main address at the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Professor Hans Petter Graver has been appointed head of the new Norwegian National Contact Point for the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre commented, “I am delighted that four such competent people have agreed to act as the contact point that will monitor Norwegian companies’ compliance with the OECD Guidelines.”

It is now clear that incumbent President Bingu wa Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) won the Presidential election together with his running mate Joyce Banda, who now will be Malawi’s first female Vice President. Dr. Mutharika gained 66% of the total vote. Although the votes for the Parliamentary elections are not yet confirmed, it is evident that it will be a landslide victory for the DPP, as well as a substantial increase in female parliamentarians.
